As the Game name itself gives an idea towards our game, a brief description about the game is shaded down:
In Red Etna, the American scientist was researching about the previous eruption that happened a few days ago . He came across to the new eruption that is about to happen today at 20.00. When the scientist tried to reach the other general people to send out the information, volcano starts activating. Everything started to shake and the environment remained unstable and the Internet didn't go through the external world which he needed to communicate to the rest of the world. Now, he is trying to escape the hazardous environment and is on his way to the nearest Sarrtfucks to deliver this urgent message.
The Etna has various obstacles which you may come across on your way to Sarrtfucks. A character can jump from one tile to another one. The obstacles consist of disappearing fog, unstable rock platform, slope and more. Once the player falls into the magma, you will die! Hence, you have to make a choice: either to 'Retry' or 'Quit' the game. Besides, you need to finish the game within 3 min. in order to win.
Hope you can help the scientist to deliver the message on time and save rest of the World!
Keys which may come in handy:
Right arrow -> To move forward
Left arrow -> To move backward
Space key -> To make a jump
Space + Right arrow key -> To make a jump and move forward at the same time.
Enjoy!!!
Theme
The most barebones interpretation of the theme as a platformer with unstable platforms (that are in most platformers anyway to begin with)
Really impressed whit this game to be honest.
Having a variety of different platforms and obstacles was a novel take on the theme!
I think that more unstable platforms should have been used, too stable.
If you read the story, then it is kind of related, but without reading the story I have no idea how it should even be related to it.
I did not find what was the unstable part in the game.
Enjoyment
You cant really jump if you go downhill
I felt like a few small QoL improvements could have been implemented to make the player character feel better to control. One of them is variable jump height - basically, once the player releases the jump key, their upward momentum would be cut in half, allowing the player to wary their jump height. The other improvement that I feel would have improved the game feel is if the player could jump when moving downwards a sloped surface - currently you can only jump on the slopes if your either moving up or standing still, which doesn't feel very great.
Pretty nice, the fact that the platforms are randomized is a plus as well, but jumping does not work when going down a slope
A simple platformer.
The downward slope (from top right to bottom left) disabled jumping when moving and it was rather annoying. But other than that, very cool
Jumping does not work well on all obstacles and it is very repetitive, more variation would be nice
The inability to jump on slopes makes the platforming frustrating to play
The game itself was fun to play, but there might have been something more.
Was interesesting but not too hard.
Aesthetics
The visuals were great! I enjoyed the sound design as well as the music, which fit really well with the bubbling magma theme.
Nice art
Sound effects were mostly there.
Wish the main character would have some animation to it at least, also it does not match the other things too well.
The game looked nice!
Simple and beautiful graphics.
Innovation
felt smooth
The game didn't have anything particularly innovative in it.
The spinning platforms were interesting.
Very basic platformer
Quite a typical platformer, nothing very innovative.
Bonus
Space button didn't work sometimes
For the short experience that it was, I enjoyed it! The art and sound design was good.
