Theme

Diving into the deep end is literally unknown

Good idea

Fits with the theme, you're going into the depths of the ocean, and because you can't see well what's coming up, especially as it gets darker, I really felt like I was going into the unknown.

Diving suits the theme

Safe bet, on topic.

Diving into the depths of that body of water and finding out all the creatures below is truly an exploration.

very basic interpretation of the theme

Enjoyment

I felt a bit cheated on by some of the enemies (huge enemies in tight spaces) The "jumping" was a bit too hard to understand because it didn't feel right

The game is quite hard and it looks like you cant go past the squid-thing at the bottom where there is only the narrow middle passage. Jump button is unnecessary since you should only go down (there are sea monsters behind, so no point in going up). Overall it has a good theme and design, but the gameplay is poor. There is also a bug if you replay the game - the submarine passes you in cutscene at the start when you still cannot use it

Movement feels clunky

I like the idea and how you have to use the light when diving deeper because it gets too dark to see without it. But I couldn't enjoy it much because the jumping feels to serve little to no purpose and the game feels too difficult. There came a point where I just don't know how you're supposed to continue. Also, the only indication that you're taking damage is the little health number in the corner ticking down and it's easy to not notice, especially as your hitbox seems to be bigger than the submarine. Since it's easy to die and you're expected to restart the game often, it's a bit annoying that you can't skip the intro cutscene. However, out of the three I tried, I'm most interested in trying this again, so it's doing something right.

Good

A little bit basic, but it works!

It was reasonably hard, maybe I'm just bad, but I enjoyed the replays!

Aesthetics

Pixel art needs point filtering, otherwise it'll be blurry. Pixel size varying from sprite to sprite is generally bad. Some of the art looks pretty cool though, Kudos!

Music is very good

The writing and the cutesy intro cutscene was enough to create a goal for the gameplay. The art looked pretty nice, some of the monster were proper spooky, and I liked how the ocean looked friendlier and more colourful near the surface but got increasingly scary the deeper you went. The music, a bit melancholic, felt fitting for the bittersweet story or searching for love and dying before you get to it.

actually scary game, triggered my thalassophobia

Amazing work with arts! The light going clockwise is a very good move!

Nice art/audio.

I love the art style and music a lot! Creates a cool atmosphere! Good job!

very beautiful graphics

it was nice but i wish some visuals were less blurry so i could see them better

I am a really big fan of the art, really good job.

Innovation

Mechanic seems interesting but execution makes it hard to tell

Nothing new

i like the light and how the game keeps getting darker the further down you go

Pointing enemies with light is a superb idea

The flashlight lighting up and killing the mobs all around was pretty cool

sorry, a lot of games here had the same literal interpretation of the unknown

Bonus

Pixel fonts are hard to read (on itch.io page)

Interesting approach but movement kills the joy of the game

I liked the presentation and there's something in the core loop; it's just too difficult :)

Fuck yes, finally a game which doesnt have to be downloaded. Thank you, its much more comfortable

The game is not playable, waited 5 minutes to open it, couldn't play the game properly it lags, but nice aesthetics tho!

Graphics are amazing
